In 2018, for every student that received a CQUniCares Appeal Scholarship, four applicants missed out.
That’s why, we’re doubling our goal - aiming to raise $200,000 – enough to support 50 students in 2019 through 25 CQUniCares Appeal Scholarships and 25 CQUniCares Emergency Grants.
The focus of our 2018 Annual Appeal is the ripple effect and impact each scholarship and emergency grant has. If we help a student stay at University and complete their qualification, this impacts their family, friends and children. Even further, it impacts their industry, the customers they serve and the communities they participate in.
Each person supported has an infinite impact on the people in their lives. We hope you will join with us in extending this impact.
2017 CQUniCares Annual Appeal raises over $120,000
Last year, we set a goal of raising $75,000 to create 25 new CQUniCares Appeal Scholarships. Through the support of our generous community of donors – staff members, students, corporate partners, alumni and friends - we met this goal, raising over $120,000 in just 25 days.
The scholarships were awarded in early 2018, helping deserving students like Casey, who was able to share her knowledge with communities in desperate need of allied health services, gaining vital experience through her international placement.
And Jackie, a single parent of three who struggles financially, but didn’t want to give up on her passion of becoming a nurse. With the support of a CQUniCares Appeal Scholarship, she’s well on her way to making her dreams a reality.
Why raise funds for enabling scholarships and emergency grants?
University is a life-changing experience. But getting there, staying there, getting the most out of it and graduating can be tough.
Extra support from scholarships and emergency grants can be the difference between someone completing their qualification or dropping out; participating in life-changing study experiences or missing out. It means students will get to the end of their course, earn more money to support their family, inspire their kids to go to uni and keep their skills in regional and remote areas.
