Develop smarter study skills, gain a deeper understanding of your unit and create connections with other students by joining Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS).
PASS are FREE online structured group study sessions aimed at first-year core units which have been identified as historically challenging for students. Sessions are informal, out of class and run weekly for PASS supported units.
PASS aims to help students master unit content while integrating discipline-specific learning skills. Sessions integrate ‘what to learn’ with ‘how to learn’.
We asked PASS participants to share their experiences. Keep reading to find out why YOU should join PASS!
Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) are essentially online study groups that provide students with another channel to learn. PASS motivates students to continue weekly revision and develop a routine. These sessions are friendly, non-judgmental and are not recorded. Even if you haven’t done any of the work for the week, it’s a great way to learn.
Students continue to access PASS because:
- they develop new study skills
- they gain tips from other students
- their work is improved
- it is another way to understand weekly content
- it is a great way to develop friendships.
PASS is very beneficial to distance (online) students. Being a distance student can be very isolating. Our students have said that PASS has allowed them to gain the confidence to speak up in a group setting. It is a great channel to interact with people who are in the same boat, trying to do their best with the work/uni/life balance.
The main benefit of attending PASS regularly is that it positively impacts students results. Our students said PASS helped them gain the results they were aiming for. Pass is another revision tool that really cannot compare with online quizzes and worksheets! You can choose to just join a session when you can, no pressure and really just concentrate on key revision elements.
