We know that our students receive a lot of emails each term. Although it is unavoidable altogether, we have processes in place to help lighten the load.

Keep reading for our tips to help you take control of your inbox…

Official communications

First off, let me start by confirming that you cannot unsubscribe from official CQUniversity emails.

It’s our official method of communicating with you. More information about this can be found in the Student Email Account Policy and Procedure document at https://www.cqu.edu.au/policy. To ensure we can reach you, make sure to keep your contact details up-to-date in MyCentre.

Social emails

As well as our official email lists, CQUniversity also has social email lists for each region. We’ve given you the power to subscribe or unsubscribe to one or more of the social lists and opt to receive social messages in a daily digest. Just follow the link at the end of each social email or use the instructions found here.

From these lists you will typically receive emails about campus life events and activities, study exchange opportunities, Library or Academic Learning Centre workshops, and other unofficial promotions and initiatives. To ensure you don’t miss out on opportunities, please consider following our Student News Facebook page.

Moved recently?

If you have moved to a different campus location, you may have noticed you are still receiving social emails from your previous location. If this is the case, visit the Student Portal for instructions to unsubscribe from the old location and subscribe to your current location. All students will need to do this if changing campuses.

Moodle

Moodle forum emails are now automatically set to ‘digest’ mode, meaning you will only receive one email per day containing all forum posts from the past day, rather than a single email for each post.

We think this is going to make sorting through your Moodle posts easier. However, if you prefer to receive one email per forum post, you can update your Moodle forum preferences to ‘No digest’ by following the instructions here.

Ashleigh Truscott (https://cqunilife.com)

I am a CQUni alumnus, who graduated back in 2010. Straight after graduating, I took a job in media, and later returned to CQUni working full-time as Student Communications Assistant. I remember all too well the panic fuelled ‘all-nighters’, getting lost on campus, confusion over systems, and the general feeling of being unsure. I'm excited to share my experiences and provide some insights into university life.
