A CQUni course can take you many places; to regional, remote or metropolitan Australia, or across the globe. Psychological science graduate Jenna Axtens introduces us to her hometown, the beautiful Illawarra region, in New South Wales, Australia.
My hometown is…
The wonderful Illawarra region!
If you’re visiting you should take a look at…
The views around Gerroa, Gerringong and Kiama are beautiful, where rolling green hills meet the ocean. Or, take a tasting trip at one of the local the wineries - I recommend Two Figs and Cupitts. Or, if mountain views are more your thing, take the winding drive up to Cambewarra Lookout and have a coffee with the red King parrots, and then pop over to Kangaroo Valley for a pie! Berry is lovely for a spot of shopping and breakfast! Lots of boutique shops!
The best bit about living here is…
The high rainfall makes the whole area green and lush - perfect for photography and for bushwalks. Also, summer is an excellent time for a swim - there are many beaches - a beach for everyone.
The easiest way to get here is…
Jump in a car and drive down the Princes Highway. The trains go from Sydney to Bomaderry too.
Something you might not know about the area is…
Apparently, it’s incredible for fishing and for whale watching!
Jenna Axtens graduated with a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) in 2016.
