Cody Vella (pictured with Prof Judith Brown) is the new Career Information Officer at CQUni’s Mackay Ooralea Campus. In addition to his role, Cody is currently in his third year of a Bachelor of Business/Professional Communication degree, majoring in Marketing. He was also recently the recipient of the Winchester Foundation Scholarship and the CQUniCares Stage and Audio Scholarship.
Who has made an impact on your life? Why?
I would have to say my parents. They are such fundamental figures in my life.
What was the moment that made you choose your career?
I have had casual positions with CQUni that I thoroughly enjoyed so when I saw the Career Information Officer position I thought I might as well apply.
What do you love most about your role?
It would have to be the student interaction. To be able to help them on the career journey is extremely rewarding.
If you could solve any social issue in your community, what would tackle first?
I would tackle the stigma that is attached to mental health.
If you had no responsibilities, where would you be right now?
I would be travelling around the world.
Which country would you most like to visit?
I would love to visit Malta as that is where my family comes from. I would also love to visit the Greek and Spanish islands.
Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met?
I met the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull last year in Brisbane.
