As Senior IT co-ordinator at CQUni’s Brisbane campus, Matt Long is usually the go-to-guy when you have an IT-related problem. Although he’s a man of few words, he definitely has a sense of humour, which no doubt helps him and his team deal with massive logistical tasks, like assisting with the ongoing Brisbane Campus renovation project.
What is your first memory?
Sailing and touring Australia by four-wheel-drive.
Have there been any awkward moments while you’ve been working at CQUni?
“Awkward moments” with me usually relate to events where something isn’t working.
What is the best thing about being at CQUni?
Working with staff and students and helping them when they have IT problems.
What is the best thing about your CQUni campus?
The people, hands down.
Jamie Oliver is coming for dinner – what do you make for him?
Don’t know really – my aim would be NOT to poison him.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
Outdoor activities, restoring cars, doing stuff around the house, sailing, anything really.
What is your favourite film or book of all time?
I don’t have a particular favourite, but if I was to nominate some, I would say books by James Herriot, Tom Clancy, Michael Crighton, to name a few.
