CQUNI SPOTLIGHT - Featuring Jaimi Parr

CQUni Brisbane Bachelor of Science (Chiropractic) alumnus Jaimi Parr is in a league of her own since she graduated. Not only is she a key member of the Queensland State of Origin squad’s medical team, she is also taking her studies further with a Master of Clinical Chiropractic at CQUni.

What was the moment that made you choose your career?
I am so fascinated by the human body and love to continually learn and apply my knowledge to help others. I initially completed a diploma in remedial massage, however this merely scraped the surface of the depth of knowledge I wanted to acquire, so chiropractic science was the next stepping stone for me.

What is the best thing about being at CQUni?
I think that the flexibility is beyond great, in addition to the University’s willingness to satisfy its students. I manage to study full time, whilst working two jobs, which works great for me. With help and direction from the chiropractic faculty, the University has built an exceptional health clinic in Indooroopilly for the students to complete their fifth year student clinic internship from. It is a brand new clinic, with brand new equipment and brilliant supervisors to ensure we are receiving work-ready training.

What do you love most about your role?
I love to finally be able to apply all of the knowledge from the many, many years of studying into a clinical setting. I love to take each case as it comes, and work out the best way to help each individual.

This weekend is free – What would you do?
This phrase does not exist. However, if for some magical reason I am not working, I am probably at the beach or dog park with my German Shepherd, or looking for my next snowboard holiday destination!

What is the luckiest thing that has happened to you?
I have been lucky career wise. I have worked five seasons with the Brisbane Broncos, and this will be my third series working with the Queensland State of Origin team. It has been unbelievable to be in the Suncorp Stadium sheds working with the players, and then watching them play from their medical bench on the sidelines.

Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met?
I won a meet and greet with Australian Formula One racing driver Danny Ricciardo at the start of 2018. Other than that, working with the Queensland State of Origin team is pretty cool.

Which major sporting event would you most like to see live?
I love snowboarding, so I think that would be great to see live. Otherwise the Monaco Formula One Grand Prix would be amazing.
