CQUniLife - My journey studying an MBA at CQUniversity

I have just completed my Master of Business Administration (MBA) program here at the CQUniversity Brisbane Campus and looking forward to graduating in the next couple of months!

I chose to study an MBA at CQUniversity mainly because this is what I always wanted to do. I wanted to be a ‘generalist’ instead of specializing in one area as I believed the more I progressed in the corporate world, the greater my responsibility is to know and understand the wider workings of the business. The MBA program is tailored to allow students to learn some of the key elements required in the modern business world such as strategy, innovation and change management.

The highlight of studying the MBA for me is learning from lecturers with vast amounts of experience. They have experience in both theory and practice and have taught in many universities in Australia. For example, many of the Law lecturers are also actual practitioners in the Queensland and Australian legal system as well as other international jurisdictions thus students get to be taught by leading practitioners and educators in the higher education sector.

It has been truly an amazing journey for me studying at CQUni and I am definitely going to miss the life-long friendships I have made with many students and the friendly staff. Luckily, some of us have agreed to keep in contact via social media as part of a networking group. You just never know when you will be dealing with some of your study colleagues in the future and when they could offer you a helping hand.

The MBA will definitely help me to progress my career back in my country. I am looking forward to the next phase of my life and I am confident that CQUni has prepared me well. My skills and knowledge will be high in demand when I return but I also believe that it’s all about having the right attitude so take opportunities when they come!
