A step in the right direction

 

My name is James McLauchlan and I am currently a second year Bachelor of Psychological Science student. I officially started my journey at CQU as a Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) student during Term Two in 2015. At the beginning, I had no idea what to expect out of the course as I was never considered as ‘intellectually gifted’ in high school. Fortunately for me, my lecturers were so passionate about what they were there to do for the students. If it weren’t for Desley and Robyn and the amount of effort they put into their students, I strongly believe things could have played out differently for me.

I wanted to look at a career path where I could engage more with the community and contribute to people’s quality of life, a career that reflected my character. As a mature age student I was searching for courses that could offer me flexibility and a foundation into my new chosen career path, I found the Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled) offered me exactly what I was looking for.

Steps towards my future career

My name is Georgia and I have been studying with CQUniversity since November 2015. I began STEPS to gain entry into my desired undergraduate degree.

When spinal surgery prevented me from finishing my final year of high school, I was faced with a difficult decision; repeat grade 12 or find an alternate route into University.
