My name is Brendan Bishop, and I am very proud to complete a higher education degree with the support of my family and Arrow Energy.
I am an Aboriginal man from the Kamilaroi people and have recently completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at CQUniversity.
With over 10 years’ experience as a business owner, I wanted to secure my future in the corporate world by gaining a qualification to back this experience. With this goal in mind, I commenced my MBA in 2018, whilst working full-time, predominately in the areas of Indigenous business and economic development.
I have a strong focus and presence for Indigenous business and economic development in the Torres Strait Islands and Cape York, as well as facilitating Indigenous entrepreneurship programs in Sydney, as well as other areas across Australia.
I would like to thank Arrow Energy for selecting me as an Arrow Energy Go Further Indigenous Scholarship recipient. It is greatly appreciated by myself and my family and has helped to progress my education and business aspirations.
‘My scholarship has helped my family and allowed me to dedicate time to my studies and attain the appropriate resources to study from home.’
I am also working with participants on the Whanu Binal program to pass on my experience in the business world to help Indigenous economic participation grow across Australia.
The Whanu Binal Indigenous Entrepreneurship Program is a collaborative initiative between CQUniversity and Arrow Energy. The Program is an online learning experience that has been specifically designed to support Indigenous business owners in the field of business and entrepreneurship. The Program is presented through a series of online modules and aims to provide participants with knowledge and tools to help further grow their business and develop economic opportunities for their communities.
