UniSport - From the Captain’s Log

UniSport Nationals Division 2 on the Gold Coast, well it’s been and gone for another year. In 2019 CQUniversity fielded its biggest team ever with student athletes coming together from campuses right across the CQU footprint to compete in Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Mixed Netball and Touch Football, Women’s Volleyball and Futsal and Men’s Soccer.

The level of competition was fierce, but students still found time for some team bonding and a good time was had by all.

Left Michelle Swannell (Basketball & Futsal). Right Jessica Upton (Basketball). Teams supporting teams within CQU every chance they could - great for morale!

The 2019 Men’s Football Team earned themselves an invitation to the Division 1 Nationals in September 2019.

Our first Mixed Netball Team is all smiles and having a great time. Special mention to Warwick & Charmian Cronin-Stacey for backing up men’s and women’s basketball as well.
An undeniable champion, Bryce Chapman showcasing his jumping skills!

My advice to anyone, sporting legend or not, is to get involved, you won’t regret it! Start thinking about it now for next year. Make sure you keep in contact with the CQUni and let them know you are interested.
