CQUNI SPOTLIGHT - Featuring Minka Ellliott

CQUni Academic Pathways Coordinator Minka Elliott (pictured with her family Dylan, Pippa and Madeleine) takes pride in her role supporting students to achieve their goals - a skill she’s no doubt acquired on the sporting field. When she’s not hard at work, Minka is working hard as a valued member of the Australian Country Hockey Team – which will compete in New Zealand next year.

What was a recent highlight in your life?
Being selected in the Australian Country Hockey Team to travel to New Zealand in 2019. All that training has paid off!

What is the best thing about the CQUni Mackay Ooralea campus?
The fantastic people I get to interact with each day, we have amazing staff and students who run all sorts of activities throughout the year. I also love having access to the gym – it’s great to take time out for a quick session at lunch times.

What do you love most about your role?
I am extremely fortunate to have a proactive and supportive team, who are ready to face any challenge head on with a positive attitude. We pride ourselves on providing an excellent experience for students so that they can achieve their career goals. It is a pleasure to work in such a supportive environment.

What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
Play hockey and spend time with my family. I have two gorgeous daughters who keep me busy when I’m not at work.

If you could solve any social issue in your community what would it be?
Bullying!

What is a motto or phrase that you live by?
Treat others how you would like to be treated and don’t judge a book by its cover – you never know what is going on with someone/thing behind the scenes.

Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met?
I went to school with The Veronicas – does that count?
