CQUNI SPOTLIGHT - Featuring Leeanne Heaton

Leeanne Heaton is Head of Course for the Bachelor of Nursing. Based in Mackay, she is responsible for the academic leadership, strategic development and quality enhancement of all aspects of the Bachelor of Nursing course, delivered across six campuses and via online education. Leeanne has extensive experience in healthcare as a registered nurse, registered midwife, paramedic and flight nurse. She’s also a very proud grandmother.

What was a recent highlight of your life?

The births of our beautiful grandchildren William and Chase.

What is the best thing about being at CQUni?

Working with very large, but amazing team of people who take a great deal of pride in what they do.

What is the best thing about your CQUni campus?

Both of our campuses in Mackay are great because of the support and friendships that we have.

What do you love most about your role?

Working in a team that continues to build strong relationships with our industry partners to benefit our students and improve the profession of nursing.

The weekend is free - what would you do?

Nothing would be nice, I’m looking forward to that when I’ve finished my PhD.

If you had no responsibilities where would you be right now?

Living in a shack on a deserted island in the Pacific Ocean, no telephone or internet.

Jamie Oliver is coming for dinner, what do you make for him?

Fajitas, with jalapenos, I love them.
