The advice you need to know to research like a pro

Did you know that you can talk to an online CQUniversity Librarian from anywhere, even your couch?

You may already know most of the library’s amazing resources are online, but a library search is not the same as using Google. That’s where our expert team of librarians can help.

How can a librarian help me?

Our librarians are skilled to help you locate, retrieve and organise information with ease. They can assist to unpack your assignment question, use EndNote, and provide general research assistance.

Librarian tip: Never type in your whole assignment question into library search – pick out key words, and find related terms to search. This will save you hours!

They can also help with understanding how to use the range of discipline specific databases that the library has in its collection.

How to connect with a librarian

For more research tips and advice, book an online ‘Ask a Librarian’ session.

These sessions allow you to connect with a librarian one-on-one via Zoom, and enjoy the benefits of screen sharing where you can be guided to resources to answer your questions.

Librarians are available online from Monday to Friday and you can meet with them from anywhere, as long as you have an internet connection.

Ask A Librarian sessions will also be available during extended hours from Week 5 this term. This service is available to all students and staff of CQUniversity.

I am a CQUni alumnus, who graduated back in 2010. Straight after graduating, I took a job in media, and later returned to CQUni working full-time as Student Communications Assistant. I remember all too well the panic fuelled ‘all-nighters’, getting lost on campus, confusion over systems, and the general feeling of being unsure. I'm excited to share my experiences and provide some insights into university life.
