My name is Alisa Roberts and I’m studying a Certificate IV in Fitness at CQUniversity via online education. I’m a mum of two girls (11 and 14), and I run my own business, so online education is the best way for me to study.
Distance education
The freedom and flexibility of studying by online education are the best part. But you’ve got to be disciplined with yourself. I studied most of my course; I had the opportunity to spend one week in the state-of-the-art facilities at the Mackay City campus as part of the practical requirement of the curriculum. They have a great campus with the all the machines and equipment.
Fitness changes lives
Some of my peers have gone on to work on cruise boats, had employment opportunities overseas, started their personal training businesses or thrived in coaching and team training roles.
What I want to do after I finish my course by November is to continue working locally in the Gladstone region to help change people’s lives, starting by inspiring healthy habits within my own family. No one in my family is fitness-oriented at all. If I can teach my kids about health, it makes it all worthwhile.
I am particularly interested in providing a mobile service to the Gladstone region specialising in fitness training of elderly clients and those with special conditions. I like working with older clients or people with less mobility who struggle to come to you. Maybe I could go to them. I have been working with some older clients, and it’s fantastic to see them getting fitter and enjoying it.
