Formerly of Far North Queensland, CQUniversity Mackay Exercise and Sports Science Lecturer Joshua Guy has now brought his passion for health and fitness to Mackay. His research interests include thermal physiology and athletic performance in extreme environments, the effects of exercise on immune function and inflammation, as well as team and individual strength and conditioning. He also coaches and consults for athletes in a range of sports such as soccer, strength sports, and triathlon.
What was a recent highlight of your life?
The birth of our first child, Louis, last October.
What is your favourite film or book of all time?
Animal Farm, by George Orwell.
What is the best thing about your CQUni campus?
The gyms on both Mackay City and Ooralea campuses.
Who was the last person who made a difference to your life, and how?
My wife Michelle, she supports me in everything that I do, even if the idea is out there!
What do you love most about your role?
I get to teach students and talk to other colleagues about what I am passionate about every day.
What would be your last meal?
Donuts, lots of donuts (not your typical Exercise Science answer).
Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met?
I had a few drinks with actor Matthew McConaughey and his stunt man when he was on a break from filming near Cairns.
