Confused about QTAC preferences? The application process?

At CQUniversity Australia, we realise the application process can be quite daunting. With so many course options, it does vary.

Put simply, it’s dependent on:

  • whether you’re a domestic or international student
  • your educational background
  • where your looking to study (Side note: If it’s outside of Queensland - perhaps consider South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC), Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) or Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC)
  • the level of education and training you wish to pursue.

‘Looking through the CQUniversity Handbook was exciting! It’s full of great information and there are so many different options to explore. I started taking notes about options I was interested in during Grade 12 and eventually narrowed these down to a bunch I hoped to pursue. Starting this process early meant that I had a lot of time to carefully consider my options and wasn’t rushed to order my preferences’ - Jessica Hunt, Current Bachelor of Accounting student

Okay, it’s settled, Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (or QTAC) is the one you’re after. Here’s what you need to know:

The magic number is SIX: Your Desired Courses (1 and 2), Back-Up Courses (3 and 4) and Pathway Courses (5 and 6).

On-time applications for Term 1, 2017 close Friday, 30 September. Avoid the late fees (speaking of fees - our fees - check out our Scholarships) - get your application in on-time*.

‘To increase my chance of being offered one of my top preferences, I made sure I was aware of the QTAC Key Dates. Applying on time is so important to ensure that your preferences are considered in the first offer round. My CQUniversity application experience through QTAC was straightforward with step-by-step instructions and helpful staff just a phone call away.’ - Jessica Hunt

So you’ve applied - what happens next?

Waiting for that offer can be quite stressful. In fact, if it doesn’t arrive, you might think that it means it’s never going to happen. Important to note, CQUniversity does offer a wide range of English, Work and Study Preparation courses, so if you happen to fall short - the options are endless. Or, if you’re looking for a career change, the options are there.

‘After years of working as a Mechanic I decided on a change of careers. I wanted to study at tertiary level but had not studied for many years. The staff at CQUniversity suggested I enrol in the STEPS program as it would provide me with the necessary skills to successfully undertake tertiary study’ - Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts Graduate
