As Leading Vocational Teacher for Fitness at CQUni Mackay City Campus, Linda Nugent serves as an inspiration, not only to her students, but to the people looking to change their lives for the better at the campus gymnasium. Her positive influence is also paid back in kind, with the student, staff and members of the public inspiring her with their spirit and dedication.
What is the best thing about being at CQUni?
I work at the Sydney Street Campus in Mackay and love its proximity to everything. It’s very handy when the students come in for practical blocks.
What do you like most about the work arrangements at CQUni?
I enjoy the flexibility. My job entails night classes as well as weekend work so the flexible work arrangements and having an awesome working team makes this much easier.
Who has made an impact on your life? Why?
My parents but in particular my mum. I lost my mum 30 years ago and I did not truly appreciate her strength, generosity and wisdom until she was no longer a physical part of my life.
What is the best thing about your CQUni campus?
The gym of course! 🙂
What’s the biggest way that a student has inspired you?
My older students are amazing – such a thirst for knowledge, empathy and experience. What a potent mix!
Describe the greatest moment in your life so far?
Two of them – when my children were born. Such an enriching life experience that continues to grow.
What is your favourite karaoke song and why?
I will survive by Gloria Gaynor. Tough days require tough songs and this one I love.
