CQUNI SPOTLIGHT - Featuring Dianne McKeiver

Dianne McKeiver has been a project officer for CQUni’s People and Culture Directorate at Rockhampton North campus for almost 25 years, but it’s her role as a mum to two boys that Di relishes in the most. Di thrives on the spirit of all those around her, especially her son Brendan who was born with a disability. She also thinks CQUni is the best place to be when it comes to supportive colleagues and always having someone to help when needed.

What was a recent highlight of your life?

A recent highlight was when my manager, Sean Peckover, approached me to see what I thought about him participating in the Noosa Triathlon this year to raise funds for the Cerebral Palsy League (now known as Choice Passion Life), in support of the work they do for my son Brendan. Brendan doesn’t have Cerebral Palsy but is intellectually-impaired. He attends their Adult Day Service at Sierra Place during the day when I’m at work. If it weren’t for CPL it would be really difficult for me to continue working full-time. When Sean asked me I was overwhelmed at the thought of someone doing something like this for me. It really meant so much, so I’d encourage all my colleagues to support his efforts and this worthy cause by visiting: https://noosatri2016.everydayhero.com/au/sean-peckover

Describe the greatest moment of your life so far?

There’s been many. Racing speedway with my son Brendan as a passenger was great. In my ‘rookie’ year (aged 43), I raced at the Queensland Street Sedan Title in Gympie. At the end of the night, I finished 26th overall from a field of 52 competitors and didn’t competitively pass a single car all night. There were plenty of experienced drivers sitting on the infield retired from the race!

Are you a CQUni Alumni? If so, what did you graduate in?

Yes – Bachelor of Business Administration.

What is your first memory?

Helping dad work on his Dodge truck (which was our family car at the time) by handing spanners to him while he was under the truck!

What is the best thing about your CQUni campus?

The gardens always look great.

What do you love most about your role?

My colleagues.

If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?

If I was a superhero? I’d like to say that with the powers that I have to demonstrate, day-to-day, my family thinks I already am!
