CQUniversity Cairns Taipans Office Manager Samantha Allen is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Business after successfully being awarded the CQUniversity Cairns Taipans Scholarship. She finds that studying her degree online makes it much easier to balance against the demands of her multi-faceted job for the Taipans.
What is the best thing about being at CQUni?
So far the support I have received from my course coordinators has been great. I love the easy access I have to other students and all the course info online.
What do you love most about your role?
I love the fast-paced, sometimes chaotic, environment around the office as we get everything ready for each game.
Who has made an impact on your life? Why?
For as long as I can remember my sister has motivated and supported me through different aspects of my life. She especially helped me through the decision-making process of what to do after school. With three and a half degrees under her belt, she taught me that it is okay to change your mind.
What is a motto or phrase that you live by?
Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.
The weekend is free - what would you do?
I’d head up to Port Douglas for the weekend, or relax by the bar on Fitzroy Island.
If your office was burning down, what would be the one thing you grabbed on the way out the door?
My iPhone and Macbook. If I had a spare hand, I’d grab our club trophies as well.
Which country in the world would you most like to visit?
I’d love to explore all of Europe with my boyfriend and tick the Northern Lights off my bucket list!
