Hello, my name is Krishna Sen, I am from a small town in Nepal called Chitwan and am currently studying a Master of Human Resource Management at CQUni Sydney campus.
I left home at the age of 15 for Pune, India after schooling for my higher study. I graduated from one of the renowned universities of India, Savitribai Phule Pune University and it was tough for me to decide what to do next. I wanted to do a masters degree but was confused from where.
Then I thought of Australia — one of the most popular destinations for international student and not once have I ever regretted my decision.
Moreover, coming to CQUniversity has been one of the best decisions of my life. I couldn’t have expected more than this. I am so in love with the university, the cooperative staff, environment, excellent student service…
I have learned a lot not just from my course work but from other things in my life. Being an international student, I have learned the importance of time, money and I have become much more independent.

It was a completely different environment for me — from food, the education system, accommodation, but I have so many cooperative people around me at CQUni that I never felt I am away from home.
University became my second home. The Academic Learning Centre was a great help for me in my initial days. I used to go to the free workshops they had every week and it helped me to understand what was expected of me.
I can see a lot of change in me. I have transformed into a confident woman and can see a lot of positive changes in my life. I was kind of an introvert person before but now I love going out, I love making new friends and gathering new experiences.

I used to attend the International Café Sessions every Wednesday on campus and I used to love that. I could meet new people, interact with university staff, make new friends and enjoy free sandwiches 😊.

I am also a part of the Social Innovation Club where we do a lot of voluntary activities for social causes, for example, we pack food for disadvantaged Mexican students and I was also part of organising the team for the welcome event, which was held on the Sydney campus for the first time. In fact, I was the host of the program!

I am also part of the Campus Life Committee and put my hand up for paid work for the university assisting in term 3 enrolment. All these activities around the university keep me engaged and occupied.
It can be difficult to be away from home and I have suffered through homesickness in my initial phase, but now I love my university life. I usually go to the beach during my spare time, Manly Beach is my favourite.
I especially love going to the beach at night when there are fewer people and more peace. I love coffee and luckily, we have so many coffee shops around the university. I usually grab a cup of coffee and go for a walk around Darling Harbor, which is only a short walk away from campus. I love to explore new places. I have already visited Melbourne, Brisbane and I loved it.
After I complete my degree I really want to work in Australian companies and get Australian experience. I want to know how different the Australian market and workplace is from my home country.
I want to learn new things and take them with me back to my home town. I want to create more opportunities and explore more in my hometown. I am a family person and I love my family a lot. So, I really want to go back to my home country but with a lot of experience.

My advice? I would just say CQUniversity has everything and wants to give the best to its student but we being a student need to explore and be active to use them to the fullest.
