CQUNI SPOTLIGHT – Featuring Shannon Delport

Born in South Africa, Shannon Delport gave up a busy job as a paramedic with Abu Dhabi Police and National Ambulance in the United Arab Emirates, to take on the position of Paramedic Science lecturer in Townsville. While she’s only been living in North Queensland for a short time, she’s already loving life in the tropics and hopes to call Townsville her forever home.


What is your favourite film or book of all time?

My favourite book is Pride and Prejudice – I’m not even a romantic!

What was a recent highlight of your life?

Moving to Australia.

What is the best thing about your CQUni campus?

Townsville is the best (just saying)! I love our campus, my colleagues are all so enthusiastic about what they are teaching and it’s infectious.

What do you love most about your role?

I love the fact that I get to teach the future of my profession and that is my little difference I get to make in this world.

Why should people study at CQUni?

I have had the privilege of seeing and being involved with other universities around the world, but CQUni is truly unique and they really are making a difference. I am proud to be a staff member here.

What is a motto or phrase that you live by?

My teaching motto is “Lead by example”.

What would be your last meal?

Pizza and chocolate cake.
